Who we are
This site is written and edited by Kyle, an independent writer focused on affordable, lightweight backpacking and camping gear. Every article starts as a researched outline, is drafted in full, and is then read, edited, and approved by a human before it is published - nothing goes live automatically.
Why this site exists
We started this site because most backpacking gear advice online either assumes you’re willing to spend $1,000+ on a “proper” setup, or it’s a wall of YouTube and TikTok recommendations with no clear reasoning behind them. If you’ve ever searched for something like “best cheap backpacking tent” and come away more confused than when you started, that’s the gap we’re trying to close - specific, honest answers for people who want to get outside without spending like it’s their job. Our goal is to publish a small number of genuinely useful, specific articles rather than a large number of generic ones.
How we work
- Research first. Every article starts from a real question real readers are asking, not from a list of keywords.
- Human review, always. AI tools help us draft faster, but a person reads, fact-checks, and edits every article before it’s published.
- Original over generic. Where possible, we use our own photos, screenshots, and comparisons rather than stock imagery or recycled claims.
- We correct mistakes. If you spot an error, see Contact - we’ll fix it and note the correction.
